I chose an etrade commercial from the years super bowl. I find this commercial to be effective. In my opinion this commercial has an audience of people from about their late 20's and up. The commercial is for an investment agency which makes targeting this audience a must. The humor used in the commercial reaches all these generations, what is more funny than a talking baby? The purpose of this commercial is to draw people into the investment agency. It does this by having the baby show all the different ways one could foolishly spend all of their money, then he talks about just saving the money. The audience is drawn to the saving aspect of the commercial. Overall, this commercial definitely works for me.

  1. I agree and I think that this commercial is very appealing, and to everyone because I think everyone can find it humorous in some way. I also believe that this commercial draws the viewers into the investment agency because you become interested and want to know more about what this company is selling.

  2. Sam,
I find the Etrade commercials are very funny as well, but I don't think I would feel comfortable investing money in a company that dosn't take themselves seriously. Although, young people, who grew up watching family guy, may find the baby's knowledge of money matters an inspiration to save. Etrade, itself has made it much easier for people to invest in their future, something everyone should think about.

  3. I agree that this commercial can seem amusing, however I felt that having a baby as the spokesperson made my leery of the company. Investing money can be quite a gamble, and I would want resources and services that come from a mature and trustworthy company. I suppose it really is a matter of how the audience interprets the commercial.

  4. I think the reason they keep going back to the baby is because they're showing that even a baby can see that their company is the right choice. I understand how people can take it that they don't take themselves seriously, or that it would be a mistake to take advice from a baby, but I am seeing it from the other side. It's basically an appeal to ethos wrapped in irony. You wouldn't expect a baby to be credible, but he's the one with the giant stack of cash. He chose to save over blowing all the money on those other things, so doesn't that show that the baby is wise?
